UAV surveying and mapping continue to grow rapidly, driven by the need for higher efficiency and faster access to accurate spatial data. Most UAV missions today rely on PPK workflows, while some projects use network-based RTK services when connectivity allows. As project types diversify, operators are increasingly seeking real-time RTK solutions that are easier to deploy, more flexible, and less reliant on external infrastructure.
Challenge
Traditional PPK workflows require post-processing and delay access to final results. Network-based RTK solutions depend on public connectivity and service availability. In addition, some projects are conducted without known ground control or predefined base station coordinates.
The customer sought a solution that could:
1. Deliver real-time RTK positioning for UAVs
2. Operate independently of public networks
3. Support projects without known base station coordinates
4. Maintain a simple and reliable field workflow

Solution
In this field test, LUKA-TAP was used as the RTK base station, with a DJI Matrice 4E operating as the rover. RTK correction data was transmitted using LUKA’s built-in NTRIP caster, running entirely within a local area network (LAN).
No public internet, SIM cards, or third-party networks were required. When no known base station coordinates were available, LUKA-TAP was used to collect high-precision reference coordinates on-site, enabling accurate RTK operations without the need for pre-surveyed control points.

Results
After initialization, the DJI Matrice 4E successfully connected to the local NTRIP caster and rapidly achieved a stable RTK FIX solution, as displayed in the flight interface. Throughout the test, RTK status remained consistent, confirming reliable correction delivery over the local network.

Conclusion
This use case confirms that LUKA-TAP extends beyond a conventional GNSS base station. By combining RTK, an integrated NTRIP caster, local network communication, and on-site coordinate collection, LUKA-TAP enables a self-contained UAV RTK workflow.
